Replacement of boots of drum-type brake mechanisms of back wheels

At the same time with replacement of brake boots replacement of their coupling and directing springs which as a result of constant cyclic mechanical and thermal loadings are stretched/give over time should be made also, stopping to develop demanded effort that conducts to a prikhvatyvaniye of brakes and acceleration of wear of drums.

1. Weaken nuts of fastening of back wheels. To Poddomkratta a car back also establish it on props. Prop up forward wheels protivootkatny boots. Remove wheels.
2. Release the parking brake. Also remove brake drums.

 The drum should act in film from a nave rather freely, in case of difficulties, is accurate обстучите its hammer with soft the brisk. If the drum still does not give in to removal, it is necessary to wring out brake boots from its working surface. Take from a brake board a rubber cap, pass in the opened opening a screw-driver and take away it the self-regulator lever from an adjusting asterisk. The second screw-driver rotate an asterisk until the drum completely will not be released. If the drum "became attached" to a nave, screw in carving openings in its face surface pair of bolts of the suitable size and try to shift assembly by their gradual tightening.

 Replacement of boots should be made at the same time on both brake mechanisms. In order to avoid confusion at assembly dismantle of brake mechanisms should be made serially, - the second can be used as an example at assembly

3. Carefully clear mechanism components of a brake dust with application of special means.

4. Remove nave assembly with the wheel bearing (see. Head Suspension bracket and steering).

5. Take from brake boots directing springs with the cups.

6. Delay a forward boot forward so to deduce it from gearing with the corresponding piston of the wheel cylinder and an anchor plate, then disconnect from a boot the bottom coupling spring.

7. Delay back a back boot and liberate it from the second piston of the wheel cylinder.
8. Remove self-regulator assembly (try remember the adjusting provision of assembly).
9. Disconnect the top coupling spring from a forward boot and remove the last from the brake mechanism.

10. Disconnect the top coupling spring from a back boot.

11. Disconnect a driving cable of the parking brake from the executive lever on assembly of a back boot, remove a back boot.

12. Having delayed boots of pistons of the wheel cylinder, check assembly on existence of signs of development of leaks. In case of need replace the cylinder (see. Section Removal and installation of wheel cylinders).

13. Wash out a brake board special structure, then grease with high-temperature greasing sites of its surface contacting to boots.

14. Remove a lock ring of fastening of an axis of the executive lever of the parking brake. Remove the lever and transfer it on a new back boot. Do not forget enclose under the lever a washer and to replace a lock ring.

15. Connect to the executive lever a cable of a drive of the parking brake.

16. Establish assembly of a back boot on a brake board. Fill in an opening an anchor finger and establish directing spring with a cup.

17. Clean a carving of a screw part of assembly of a regulator and grease it with high-temperature greasing. With the same greasing grease the end of an axis of the screw.

18. Fill a regulator tip in a reciprocal groove in assembly of a back brake boot. Track, that the regulator appeared will develop on the mechanism correctly.

19. Establish a forward boot and fix it a directing spring. Track, that tips of assembly of a regulator correctly entered into gearing with both boots.

20. Establish coupling springs.

21. Before installation of a drum it is necessary to check it on existence of cracks, задиров, furrows, traces of an overheat and other defects. At identification of the serious damages which traces cannot be eliminated with a way of processing of a drum a fine-grained emery paper, it is necessary to give a drum to a pro-point (with observance of the maximum admissible repair diameter).

 Originators of the real Management recommend to make a pro-point of drums regardless of their condition for the purpose of any removal of defects and ovality elimination. If the pro-point of a drum cannot be made without violation of requirements to the maximum admissible internal diameter (it is beaten out on a drum), it is necessary to make its replacement. If to make a pro-point of drums it is not obviously possible, at least, carefully smooth out them working surfaces a fine-grained emery paper.

22. Rotation of an asterisk of a regulator achieve such provision of brake boots that the drum was put on them without special difficulties. Having put on a boot, through an opening in a brake board rotation of an asterisk of a regulator press boots to a working surface of a drum, then again release them so that the drum started to rotate freely. Several times firmly squeeze out a pedal of a foot brake, then make sure that at a pedal otpuskaniye the drum rotates freely, in case of need tighten up as appropriate a regulator asterisk.
23. Establish a wheel, lower the car on the earth and tighten wheel nuts with demanded effort (see. Specifications to Head of Control and routine maintenance).
24. Several times brake the car at movement it both to lobbies, and a backing for the purpose of performance of automatic adjustment of brake mechanisms (do not forget to cock several times also the parking brake).
25. Before starting car operation, make sure of serviceability of functioning of brakes.
