Check of serviceability of functioning and replacement of the block of the sensor of a measuring instrument of temperature of cooling liquid

Start procedure performance only after complete cooling of the engine! See also preventions at the beginning of the Section Antifreeze - general information. Remember that at the included ignition the fan of system of cooling can work even at the muffled engine.



1. The system of indication of temperature of cooling liquid consists of the measuring instrument built in in an instrument guard and the information sensor placed on the engine. On the car some CTS sensors are provided, however, in system of indication one of them is used only.

2. If at unequivocally cold engine the measuring instrument fixes an overheat, check electroconducting on a chain site between an instrument guard and the sensor block on existence of signs of short circuit on weight.
3. If the measuring instrument does not function at all (the arrow remains motionless even after 10-minute warming up of the engine) at serviceable safety locks, muffle the engine and disconnect electroconducting from the temperature sensor. By means of a wire crossing point close a sensor wire on weight. For short time include ignition, without starting the engine. If the arrow of the indicator deviates till the end of a scale, replace the sensor.
4. For check of the sensor disconnect from it electroconducting and connect an ohmmeter between the probe in the top part of the sensor and mass of the power unit. At slightly heated-up engine (about 60°С) the indication of an ohmmeter should make about 70 ÷ 90 Ohm for models till 1998 вып. and 170 ÷ 200 Ohm for models of 1999 вып. After engine warming up to temperature 100°С instrument reading should fall to value (21 ÷ 24) / (47 ÷ 53) Ohm respectively, otherwise replace the temperature sensor.



Turn out the sensor from the engine (prepare for collecting spilled liquid) and quickly establish on its place new which carving previously grease with current-carrying hermetic (not a teflon tape or a tape FUM). In summary check level of cooling liquid.
