Check of a condition and battery replacement

 The negative wire always should be disconnected from the battery first of all and be connected in the last!

At shutdown of the battery there is a loss of RSM of working parameters brought in memory that can lead to a certain violation of stability of turns of idling the first minutes after engine start.

 PERFORMANCE ORDER

 Check is meaningful only if the battery is completely, is or nearly completely charged. Disconnect from the wire battery both (at first negative).

The negative wire always should be disconnected first of all and be connected in the last.

1. If the stereosystem established on the car is equipped with a security code before disconnecting the battery make sure that have the correct combination for equipment introduction in action!

a. Check of level of a charge of the battery. Visually estimate brightness of a color spot of the indicator which has been built in in the top part of the battery (if that is provided). If the spot has dark color, make battery additional charge (see. Head of Control and routine maintenance). On batteries subject to service it is necessary to remove special covers and to check electrolit level in banks, - liquid should hide the upper edges of the lamely completely. In case of need add in the relevant banks necessary amount of the distilled water. Try not to pour more liquid, than it is really necessary, as it can lead to electrolit replacement at raised loads of the engine. For determination of density of the electrolit filled in in banks use the areometer. Remove covers and soak up in measured capacity of the device electrolit test. By the provision of a float of the measured chamber determine specific weight of electrolit in each of a battery banok (follow instructions of manufacturers of the device). The density of electrolit of completely charged battery should make 1.270 units (a green zone of a measured scale). At excessively low specific weight (a red zone of a scale) it is necessary to make battery additional charge (see. Head of Control and routine maintenance).
b. Check of tension of an open contour. Prepare the digital voltmeter.

 Before starting measurement of tension it is necessary to remove a superficial charge for what it is necessary to include a driving beam for 10 seconds from the battery, then to switch off headlights and to wait about two more minutes.

At the muffled engine and the disconnected consumers of the electric power connect negative щуп the voltmeter to a negative pole of the battery, then positive – to a positive pole. At the serviceable battery the device should register the indication not below 12 In, otherwise, before passing to further checks, it is necessary to make battery additional charge (see. c. Check of the tension developed by the battery under loading. Adequately to estimate a battery condition without carrying out this check it is impossible. Prepare a special universal measuring instrument (see an accompanying illustration). Connect a measuring instrument to plugs of the battery and follow instructions of manufacturers of the device. Imitation of loading is made at the expense of the coal core built in in a measuring instrument. Having sustained loading within about 15 seconds, consider instrument reading - tension should not fall below 9.6 Century.

 The developed battery tension in direct ratio depends on temperature. Correction of results is made according to the special card of conditions which is usually enclosed in a set to the device. The minimum admissible value at temperature 0°С makes about 9.1 Century.

d. Check on existence of currents of leaks. Make sure. What is the onboard consumers of the electric power are switched off. If the car is equipped with a lamp of illumination of an impellent compartment, make sure of serviceability of its functioning, then disconnect a lamp. Disconnect a negative wire from the battery and connect instead of it one of lamp sampler plugs. The second plug connect to a tip of a negative wire, - inclusion of a lamp testifies to existence of a current of the leak conducting to the category of the battery.

 On the models equipped with the processor of control of a condition of the power unit, a digital watch, the electric drive of correction of provision of seats with the remembering module, or other devices being consumers of the electric power at switched-off ignition, the weak luminescence of the lamp sampler is admissible. In the presence of suspicions with leakages of a current replace a lamp sampler with the ampermeter - the result of measurement should not make more than 50 мА.

REPLACEMENT

3. Remove the battery from the pallet.

 Special brackets with handles are issued. Use of such brackets essentially simplifies procedure of extraction of the battery from an impellent compartment.

4. Attentively examine the pallet on existence of traces of corrosion.

5. In case of need give fixture and take the pallet from an impellent compartment for the purpose of removal of products of corrosion from it and carrying out the corresponding protective processing of metal (use first coats on a zinc basis).

6. At replacement track, that the replaceable battery corresponded on the performance data to requirements of your car.
7. Installation is made upside-down.
