Check of a condition and replacement of the sensor of provision of a camshaft (SMR)

 Performance described below procedure can lead to entering in memory of OBD of malfunction which will be highlighted by a control lamp “Check the engine”. On termination of check and the corresponding regenerative repair do not forget to clear memory of system (see. The section System of onboard diagnostics (OBD) - a principle of functioning and codes of malfunctions).

 PERFORMANCE ORDER

1. The SMR sensor serves for determination of frequency of rotation of the engine and the current position of pistons in its cylinders. Removed information arrives on the onboard processor which on the basis of its analysis carries out the corresponding corrections of duration of injection and installations of a corner of an advancing of ignition. The SMR sensor consists of a rotor plate and a contour forming a wave signal. The rotor plate is broken by grooves into 360 divisions (with a step in 1 °). The form and an arrangement of grooves allow to trace frequency of rotation of the engine and the current provision of its camshaft. The set is built in a form-building contour light and photo diodes. When passing teeths of a rotor in a gap between light and the photo diode there is a consecutive interruption of a light beam which then will be transformed to the wavy peak signal which is given out on RSM. The RSM sensor is built in the ignition distributor.

2. Disunite the contact socket in a plait of the electroconducting going to the distributor. Include ignition. the voltmeter probe the plug of a black-and-white wire of the socket. In the absence of tension check an electroconducting condition on a chain site between the ECCS relay and the battery. (do not forget about safety locks). Check also a condition actually the relay and the electroconducting going from it to the socket of the distributor (see schemes of electric connections at the end of Head Onboard electric equipment). By means of an ohmmeter check serviceability of grounding of the plug of a black wire.
3. Switch off ignition and remove the distributor from the engine (see. Head engine Electric equipment). Restore initial connection of electroconducting. Connect positive щуп the voltmeter to the plug of a green-black wire from a reverse side of the socket. Negative щуп earth on weight. Include ignition and start to turn slowly a distributor shaft, watching measuring instrument indications. The following picture should take place: 6 jumps by amplitude in 5.0 In on one turn of a shaft against a zero base signal. This check confirms serviceability of registration of a signal 120 °.
4. At the switched-off ignition connect the voltmeter to the plug of a greenish-yellow wire. Include ignition and start to rotate a distributor shaft slowly. This time should take place regular 5-вольтные power surges with frequency of 360 pieces on one turn of a shaft. This procedure allows to make sure of serviceability of development of a signal 1 °.
5. At negative results described above checks assembly of the distributor of ignition is subject to replacement (see. Head engine Electric equipment), - the SMR sensor in an individual order is not subject to service.

 PERFORMANCE ORDER

1. The SMR sensor is located in a cover of a drive of GRM in a forward part of the power unit. The sensor consists of a constant magnet, the core and a wire winding and serves for definition of grooves in a camshaft asterisk. When passing teeths of an asterisk near the sensor there is a change of a magnetic field surrounding it which, in turn, will be transformed to the alarm tension which is given out on RSM. On the basis of the analysis of information arriving from the sensor the module of management defines about position of pistons in the cylinders (VMT).

2. Disconnect from the sensor electroconducting. By means of an ohmmeter measure resistance between two plugs of the contact socket of the sensor. At temperature 20°С resistance of 1440 ÷ 1760 Ohm (the sensor of production of the Hitachi company)/2090 ÷ 2550 Ohm (the sensor of production of the Mitsubishi company) the faulty sensor should take place is subject to replacement.
3. At positive result made above check address to schemes of electric connections (see. Head Onboard electric equipment) also check electroconducting going from RSM on existence of signs of breaks. Make sure of lack of signs of violation of quality of grounding of a black wire of a plait (use an ohmmeter). If the sensor and electroconducting as it should be, drive away the car on car repair shop for carrying out diagnostics of a condition of RSM and performance of the corresponding regenerative repair.
